Saying goodbye at home offers a calm and familiar setting—for both you and your pet—during a deeply emotional time. Being in their own environment helps reduce anxiety and stress, allowing your pet to remain relaxed, and giving you the privacy and space to grieve at your own pace.

To ensure a gentle and pain-free passing, we follow a carefully considered two-step euthanasia process.

Our Smooth Process

Step 1 – Gentle Sedation

The first step involves giving a light sedative via a single injection. This helps your pet feel calm, relaxed, and completely at ease. If your pet is still eating, this can be a special moment to offer their favourite treat or meal as a comforting distraction. Once the sedative is administered, we allow time for it to take full effect—typically between 5 to 15 minutes. Every pet responds differently, and occasionally, a second dose may be needed to achieve a deep sleep. By this stage, your pet is usually very relaxed and unaware of their surroundings, making any further injections entirely painless. We can also step away during this time to give you private, quiet moments with your pet.

Step 2 – Euthanasia

Once your pet is fully asleep and unconscious, we give the final injection. A small patch of fur is clipped to access a vein, and in some cases, we may need to try more than one area—your pet feels no pain at any point. For cats, the final injection may be given into the abdomen, but only after they are in a deep anaesthetic sleep. As they pass, their breathing and heart will gently stop. You may see small movements, twitches, or a final breath—these are normal reflexes and not signs of discomfort. Some pets may release urine or faeces, and their eyes may remain open. We will guide you through everything with care and compassion.
